Did you know you can become a professional skateboarder at 14 years old? Rodney Mullen was only 14 when he beat world champion Steve Rocco. After he had beaten Steve Rocco he started getting magazine offers and skate team offers so he joined the Bones Brigades. He said “I fell in love wit skate boarding because it was individual”. He is a great example of what people can do if they put there mind to. He is thee best flat land skate boarder in the world (world champion).
How Rodney Became Pro
Rodney Mullen beat the world champion skate boarder at 14 years old. When he was 10 he moved far away from skateboarders. He practiced in his garage everyday and got good fast. When he was 11 he started going out of town and competing ad never lost. When he was 14 he joined the oasis pro competition and he beat Steve Rocco the world champ.
Rodney’s Background
Rodney Mullen came from a wealthy background. His father was a rich doctor. At first Rodney wasn’t allowed to skate his dad wouldn’t allow it because of injures. He said he would stop after is first serious injury. He ad to wear protective pads and e did. When he was 9 years old he became sponsored by a skate shop in his home town.
What He Does Now
He may be a skate board legend but he has a family now. He is retired with his wife. He still gets money from his clothing companies and things but he does nothing. He will live with his family in is over protected home for the rest of is years.
All in all Rodney Mullen has been a inspiration to mostly everyone. He has been a great example of what people can do if they let no one stop them. He will forever be an inspiration to all young and old.
